Frequently Asked Questions

Getting to know me and how we can work together.

How to make an appointment?
Contact me by on my dedicated and confidential phone or email to arrange a no obligation 15 minutes introductory call. I will get back to you as soon as possible. We can book an initial 30 minutes session, online or telephone, free of charge to find out if I am the right fit for you as a therapist, and take it from there.
My fee is £70 per session. I offer a discount for people on a low income, such as means-tested welfare benefits and disability related benefits. I offer a sliding scale of reduced fees in these circumstances. We can talk about this in your free introductory 30 minutes session. I also offer reduced fees for trainee counsellors and psychotherapists. There is no charge for sessions cancelled in advance with at least 24 hours notice. I do not charge a fee while you are on holiday. Payment is due in advance of each session.

I am available for appointments on the following days and times:

Monday – morning/afternoon/evening

Tuesday – morning

Thursday – afternoon/evening

Saturday morning appointments also available

I offer weekly sessions and we can agree which day and time suits you at your first session.

The number of sessions you will have, or how long you are in therapy, very much depends on your needs and what issues you bring to therapy. We will talk about this at your first session.

If you are travelling by car, I have off-road parking for visitors.

Newark Northgate rail station is ten minutes walk away.

Buses 24 and 367 stop nearby.

If you are travelling by train and arrive at the station with time to spare ahead of your ten minute walk to my practice, Newark Northgate has a small coffee shop and toilet facilities.

I do not have a waiting room, so you will need to arrive no earlier than a few minutes before your session. If you are driving, and you arrive a little early, I would suggest you wait in your car until your session time. There is a small porch at the door, which provides some shelter, but unfortunately does not have enough space for any seating.

My counselling is at the back of the house, through a side entrance to the garden. Please ring the front doorbell just before your session time and wait in the porch. I will come and greet you, with a large umbrella if it’s raining! We will walk round to my garden therapy room where you can settle into a cofortable armchair.

I have a small downstairs toilet. Let me know if you need to use this on arrival or before you leave and I will take you there. I know how uncomfortable it can be, if you have a long journey, and you are worried about toilet facilities!

I take your confidentiality very seriously and we will discuss this in your first session.

I have a dedicated confidential phone for my counselling practice, which is password protected and only accessed by me.

If you have any questions about how I protect your confidentiality, do not hesitate to ask me. I understand how important it is for you to feel safe.
